Papal Preliminaries
Menu
As we have indicated, the Church
today is without a pope. In this page of the True Catholic web site, we
present articles on various topics concerning the papal situation, as well
as reasons why and how a papal election could be conducted. With
God's help we can elect a true pope for God's one and only Church.
The
Papal Situation The question has been posed ... "Do we have
a pope?" The answer in a nutshell is that the last true pope was
Pope Pius XII who died on Oct. 9, 1958. The 4 men following him, each claiming
to sit on the Chair of St. Peter were impostors. This article entitled
by a traditional Catholic layman shows why.
In
Defense of a Future Papal Election So then,
since we have no pope, what can be done about it? This
article entitled by a Catholic layman is written at a scholarly level for
Catholics who need or want to know how and why the proceedings for a papal
election could be transacted in the present state of the Church. The article
gives specific references to Church laws and documents on Papal succession.
Methodology
for a Future Papal Election Shows who are the members
of the Catholic Church in our times and just how the members of this perfect
society, God's one, true Church should proceed in order to again fill the
papal office with a legitimate, validly elected Vicar of Christ.
The
Councils of Pisa & Constance -- Lessons & Precedents
for our Times In an election conducted under the Natural
Law, it is left to the discretion of the members of a society to determine
for themselves what method will be followed to assure a valid outcome.
This is actually what happened in the 15th century to end the Great Western
Schism.
The
Conclave (formerly known as Instauratio) is an international committee
of Catholic clergy and laity, with the goal of restoring the supreme jurisdiction
to the Catholic Church. This document answers all objections of those
who say that such a papal election cannot be validly held.

in the public domain from December 1997 thru March 1998. The author
does not now support the conclave without the inclusion of Catholics from
Europe, even though it is his opinion that this conclave could elect a
true pope without Europe participating.
